More Autumn Apple-Pie Goodness

Photo courtesy of Diana Marie Photography.
There is just so much to love about this season!! Pumpkins and gourds, homestyle comfort food, hot apple pie, colorful leaves, a toasty fireplace on a chill night… sigh. Is there anything sweeter?

I am constantly inspired by autumn weddings… there are just endless beautiful things to gush over. The color palettes are to die for – a blending of warm tones and earthy neutrals; the floral arrangements are unique and creative; and the potential for tasty dishes is limitless! That’s why I’ve been losing myself in all of these delicious pictures! I just can’t get enough of the flavors of fall.

These first photos are from a “Fall in Love” photo shoot by Diana Marie Photography. As if the combination of bright yellow, cinnamon candy, and soft grey blue weren’t enough, the floral arrangements from Fleurology are simply nothing short of gorgeous. Not to mention the dress is something out of a fairy tale.

Then I saw these pictures from a Thanksgiving shoot and not only is it completely appropriate for this week, I can only imagine how PERFECT this whole setup would be for a wedding!! I mean, can anything possibly be more autumn than these photos? Someone needs to invent a teleporter for my computer screen so I can walk into this scene and actually wander around. (Although if something like that actually existed, I might never come back… just kidding. :)

Really though… look at this! Does this not just make you melt into your chair? I don’t think anyone’s Thanksgiving dinner is going to look this picture-perfect. But hey – a girl can dream, can’t she?

Made For Each Other: Yellow & Grey

I am completely obsessed with yellow and grey. I don’t know what it is about those two colors but they just make me so happy! And when I see them paired together in a wedding color scheme I start to feel a little giddy. Yellow is bright, cheerful, warm and open; and grey is cool, chic, stylish and soft. They balance each other out perfectly and (in my humble opinion) are everything a wedding should be.

So it’s no surprise that when I began surfing the internet today for blog inspiration I found myself gravitating towards all of the pictures of the yellow and grey weddings I found. Pretty soon I was saving all of them, more and more excited by each one that I discovered. A dress from one, a corsage from another, a table setting from somewhere else, and pretty soon I had a whole collection of yellow and grey goodness. After drooling over so many photos, I feel like I’m floating in a sea of lemon cookies. Or something like that. :)

But really though… do you not want to just jump for joy when you see these photos? There are so many fun and creative ideas of different ways to use yellow and grey that I just get so excited. In fact, after a while I had to tell myself to put the mouse down and step away from the computer. I just couldn’t seem to stop!

I mean, look at this photo of the yellow bridesmaid dresses with the grey boots!!! Does this not make the cowgirl in you want to hog-tie your man and marry him all over again, just to have a wedding with these colors!? And the photo of all the groomsmen skateboarding in their grey suits just about made me lose it.

Sneak Peek...

So… I’ve been wanting to share the juicy details of Nick and Amy’s wedding in New York, but I don’t have any of the pictures from the event yet!! So I’m just dragging out the anticipation, hoping to keep you on your toes… :)

To tide you over until then, I have a GORGEOUS video that will give you a taste of the wedding and the reception and will completely blow you away. The very talented Travis from Serendipity Studios created this fabulous video that gave me chills and made me feel like I was in NY all over again!! It really captured the elegance of the whole event perfectly!! It was SUCH a beautiful occasion and I just can’t get over how everything came together.

The kids that you see in the video are Nick’s, but they absolutely love Amy and you would never guess from the way that they interact that she’s not their mom. They make such a beautiful family. I swear, it was meant to be!!

I hope you enjoy the video!

Have your cake and eat it too

(Although, truth be told, some of these cakes are just too beautiful to eat!) I’ve been perusing the web, scoping out wedding cakes and I have to say, there are some pretty fabulous confections out there! The cake is definitely one of the many fun highlights of a wedding. Achieving a strong cake that is dense enough to support decorations and still remain not only edible but tasty is no easy task and is a skill that bakers strive to master. I know I always appreciate when a gorgeous cake is also delicious!

Wedding cakes have always typically been white, to symbolize purity; but there are really no rules anymore – especially nowadays. A wedding is a reflection of the personalities of the bride and groom, and the cake is no exception. You should never be afraid to go completely against the grain and do something new! Make it special.

The tradition of the bride and groom cutting the cake together is a symbol of their first task together in married life. Feeding the cake to one another symbolizes the commitment that the couple are making to one another – think about that before you go to smoosh it in your love’s face! Okay, okay, I’ll admit, that’s half the fun!

I hope you enjoy looking through these chic wedding cakes as much as I enjoyed collecting them. There are so many pretty color combinations and decorations, I can’t help getting excited  all over again. I love the red black and white combo!
