A New Year’s Eve Wedding? Yes Please!

I love the shimmer and sparkle of New Year’s Eve Parties and the festivities that accompany ringing in the new year! I always get caught up in the excitement and enthusiasm of beginning a brand-new 365-day slate, completely fresh, with no mistakes in it! And what a better way to begin a new year and a new life together by tying the knot on New Year’s Eve? It’s just so romantic!

That’s why when I stumbled upon these gorgeous photographs from a New Year’s Eve wedding, I stopped dead in my tracks. Tell me this is not the PERFECT setting for New Year’s!?!? I would not mind being invited to this party. So much glitz and glam in one space!

Don’t mind me while I gush over the perfect combination of purple, blue, and silver offset by so much SPARKLE.

Ice sculptures? Snowflakes? Dozens of LED lights? Everything about this wedding is simply to. die. for. There is enough winter wonderland in these photos to send me to the moon. I imagine going to this wedding would be like spending New Year’s on another planet under the stars – so modern and glamorous! The photographer, Jessica Claire, did an amazing job of capturing the whole event. I practically feel like I’m there!

Oh, Holiday Cheer! Custom Designed Cards Are Here?

‘Tis one of the happiest seasons of the year and the air is full of jingle bells, glitter, and holiday cheer! As Hanukkah is here and Christmas draws near, it’s time to send cards to all those you hold dear! Okay, okay, I’ll try to refrain from the bad rhyming. I just get so excited sometimes for the holidays that I can’t stop myself.

I know -- as fun as the holidays can be, all hot cocoa on cold days and warm moments with family and friends, it can also be a bit stressful, too. Running around, trying to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list while the malls are packed with more people than ever.

That’s why it can be SO nice to be able to take one of the big things off of your to-do list and just hand it off to someone else to take care of for you. Hiring a professional to put together custom holiday cards for you gives you one less thing to think about and you can spend more time focusing on other things this holiday season. Look at some of these gorgeous cards from our vendor, Envelopments! We can put together cards like this for you and your family, or create something completely unique just for you.

And if you’re trying to stay on budget this holiday season, there’s still time to nab one of our Mini Photo Sessions! For just $180, Kincannon Photography will do a mini photo session with you and provide up to 3 high resolution images that we will then use to create 25 gorgeous holiday cards for you to send out to family and friends! But don’t wait too long – this deal is only good until December 21! So schedule a time with us now, before all of the spaces run out. They’re almost gone!

If you already have a photo you would like to use, we can create some fantastic cards for you with those as well. And the sky is the limit! Whether it’s family cards, a holiday party invite, business well-wishes, or something completely different, we can provide exactly what you need. Contact us to find out more.

Long Island Romance

Photo courtesy of Isabelle Selby Photography

I am sitting here drooling over this gorgeous Long Island wedding that was featured on Style Me Pretty a while back. It’s the perfect blend of elegant and understated: a rustic, sweet and romantic occasion that was captured on camera beautifully! I mean, look at these pictures and tell me you wouldn’t LOVE to have this as you’re wedding! (See, you can’t do it, admit it!) The Foundry is the perfect place to get hitched and this couple make it even more perfect.

The soft focus and warm colors of the photography really capture the whole atmosphere of the event. Especially all of those gorgeous floral arrangements – they’re to die for!! Every time I see beautiful bouquets like this I suddenly get a hankering to grow gardens full of flowers and cut and arrange them all the time! (Yeah, right!! Like I’d ever have the patience to do that…) But really, don’t you kind of feel like that when you look at these florals? They certainly bring out the creativity in me! Anyone have a garden full of blooming flowers I can borrow for a day to satisfy my sweet tooth for flower arranging? :)

I love the idea of using a fan as one of the paper goods for the reception – SO cute! Even though it’s the middle of winter right now and it’s absolutely freezing outside, this would be perfect for those hot summer weddings! If you’re planning a summer wedding and you think it would be cute to do something like this for your ceremony or reception, let us know! We love creating custom-tailored paper goods specially for your event.

Gorgeous Rustic Halloween Wedding

This morning I woke up and opened the window and discovered the foggiest Southern California day I’ve seen in a long time, and all I could think was, what a perfect start to a hallowed holiday! HAPPY HALLOWEEN, everyone!!!

And what better way to get in the spooky spirit of the day than to share this absolutely gorgeous rustic Halloween wedding with you! There are so many different ways you could celebrate a themed wedding – so many color choices and design options – but I chose this one because I think it is sooo beautiful and romantic! You can tell that it’s a Halloween wedding and yet they didn’t overstate anything – the warm autumn tones and the whimsical mixture of pumpkins and flowers leave you with a feeling of soft elegance and just a touch of fantasy.

Pretty much everything about this wedding was beautifully done and it really got me in the Halloween spirit. Okay, okay – I don’t think I would want to get married on Halloween – but I sure wouldn’t mind attending this one! LOL. Those treats look delicious.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE that the bride is wearing wings?! (Admit it, what bride doesn’t secretly want to have wings on her wedding day? You feel like you have wings already, marrying the man of your dreams!)

A Notebook Engagement

--> Don’t you just love when you hear about how a couple met, and later how they got engaged? It’s one of my favorite questions to ask whenever we meet with a new bride-to-be, and some of the stories that we get to hear are so sweet! I recently heard the most romantic engagement story from a new client that gave me goose bumps, and I just HAD to share it with you!!

A few weeks ago, I sat down with this wonderful bride, Genice, who we met at the Love Tour Wedding Expo that we participated in back in September. Genice and her super sweet mom joined me at the BG studio where we immediately started chatting about her and her fiancĂ©, Adrian. They’ve been together for close to seven years and Genice knew that they would eventually get engaged, but she really didn't want to be the bride that reads into every situation as the "it's happening" moment.

Genice is a HUGE  fan of the movie "The Notebook." So when she and Adrian planned a trip to South Carolina to take a tour of all the various locations where the movie was filmed, she fought every instinct that told her he was going to pop the question, not wanting to read too much into the situation.

After several tours on their trip (including High Cotton Restaurant, from the scene when Noah looks through a restaurant window and finds Allie dining with her fiancĂ©) they stopped at Boone Hall Plantation, located in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.  Fans of "The Notebook" know this location as the Hamilton's beach house where Allie (Rachael McAdams) and her family stayed when she met Noah (Ryan Gosling). This is the location where Genice's gut instinct should have been screaming "IT'S HAPPENING!" yet she had let go of her expectations and wasn’t looking for it.

As they had finished up their tour and were deciding on where to grab a bite to eat, Adrian requested (yet) another photo before they left the plantation. As Genice turned to find a good spot to set up the photo, Adrian took advantage of the moment. When she turned back, he was patiently waiting on bended knee to ask her to be his wife. Genice was truly taken by surprise, and without hesitation she immediately said "yes" to the man of her dreams!

Happy sigh.

Total side note, because the BG Girls LOVE random tidbits, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively just tied the knot in a secret ceremony at none other than.... Boone Hall Plantation!! How's that for romance?!!

Check out this link on the travel channel to read about this and other real life fairy tale wedding destinations!

Genice and Adrian's wedding is next year, so we're currently working on bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girl and ring bearer cards as well as some items for their upcoming engagement party. More info and photos to come then!!

Bottles, Buckets, & Boxes: A Bouquet Trend

Photo courtesy of Feather + Stone.

Though there is nothing new about this fun way to dress up the flowers at your wedding, it certainly is a major trend right now! Taking rustic objects such as mason jars, glass bottles, old tin buckets, rusty watering cans, and even large boxes and filling them with the colorful blooms of your choice is definitely IN right now for weddings. We see it everywhere and we think it’s a fun and sweet way to add a touch of whimsy and romance to your bouquets.

Take a look at some of these gorgeous photographs from several recent weddings that have created something beautiful and unique from this concept. If you’re thinking of having a rustic wedding or going for a more natural theme with an outdoor ceremony or reception, this might be a fun idea for you; it all depends on the look and feel that you’re wanting to achieve. Can you picture bouquets like this for your special day?

For a wedding following this style, I can’t help imagining invites to go along with them. I’m thinking a warm cream cardstock with splashes of lavender, mint, and maybe even a pale yellow. A soft floral pattern, some twine tied in a loose knot or bow -- something soft, muted, understated. Oh, there is invite inspiration everywhere!
