Colorful Cardstock Combinations for Invites

Summer is winding down slowly now and we’re moving toward autumn, but I’m not quite ready to say goodbye yet!! I love the vibrant colors that summer always infuses into everything, and I’m still coveting some truly gorgeous summery color schemes from our paper good vendor, Envelopments. If you haven’t seen their website, you should check it out. Not only are their products beautiful, high quality, and simply fabulous, their samples and examples are a wonderful source of inspiration and eye candy!

(And of course if you see anything there that you would love to use for your wedding invitations – or birthday party, wedding shower, or other event! – be sure to let us know. We will create something spectacular that you will just LOVE!)

Look at this gorgeous color combination: Pout Pink, Guava, Crème Brulée and Ecru. It says this wedding is going to be happy, lighthearted, open, and fun! I picture a ceremony in some vast green garden overflowing with orange poppies, pink bougainvillea, and fruit trees!

And don’t you just love this color combo!? Bronze, French Roast, and Peacock. These invites are classy, simple, and elegant, yet they say “we know how to have fun, too!” They foreshadow a ceremony in a beautiful cathedral with stained glass windows, followed by a reception bursting with calla lilies, champagne, and a rich, many-tiered chocolate cake with ganache center. Yum!

And last but not least, I’ve been relishing this yummy nature-inspired color combination: Envy Green, Black Linen, Diamond, and Pyrite. These wedding invitations are romantic, sweet, and whimsical. I can just see a late-summer wedding on a venerable family estate lined with oak trees and decorated with bunches of fresh green grapes and bouquets of white peonies!

Summery Floral Fun!

Photo courtesy of Elisabeth Perotin Photography.
There’s something about warm summer days that are just so full of whimsy and magic! Maybe it’s the way sunlight sparkles and winks at you through the leaves in the trees, inviting you to spend more time outside in the garden. Maybe it’s the way plants and flowers are more cheerful than ever, brightening up the space around them – especially now that everywhere you look, families and businesses are going green. Maybe it’s the way the weather has you reaching for that ice cold glass of fresh-squeezed strawberry lemonade and putting your feet up on the back porch with wildflowers tucked in your hair.

Okay, maybe it’s all of it!! Does it really matter just exactly what it is that makes summer such a gorgeous, beautiful time of year? All I know is, we’re smack-dab in the middle of a hot California summer, and it’s the perfect time for a wedding. I’m in heaven!!

Really though, nothing gets me more excited about summer weddings than seeing all of the GORGEOUS floral arrangements that are in bloom everywhere. Does anything say ‘summer’ more than a bright bouquet of vivid yellow sunflowers or a colorful bunch of delicate roses and peonies? Just looking at all of these makes me want to sit down and start designing invites around all of the yummy color palettes. Happy sigh.

Kick off your shoes and dance! Matt and Lindsey’s gorgeous Newport Beach Marriott wedding will have you wiggling in your chair with excitement. The pictures from their special day are fantastic!! BG Design put together all of their wedding invitations, the signage for their wedding reception, and all the paper goods for their rehearsal dinner.

LVL Events did a fabulous job coordinating the whole glamorous event! They really went all out, and when everything came together it was oh-so-elegant and simply polished to perfection! The floral arrangements by Boom Box are absolutely to DIE FOR! I mean, it’s practically impossible not to drool over these pictures.

Last year, Matt and Lindsey had a baby shower before their son Max was born, which we also created the paper goods for! It was a beautiful shower and everything was fabulous!

Matt is my girlfriend Janice’s son. Not to long ago, we also created the paper goods for her great niece’s princess party as well as her niece’s wedding as well! You can see the photos from both events here.

Outside the Box Wedding Invitations

I was perusing the web recently, looking for some outside-the-box wedding invitation inspiration, and discovered some really cool ideas! So I collected some of my favorites and thought that I would share them with you. Maybe one of these ideas will spark your imagination and be the perfect invite concept for your special day!

Source: RealSimple.com

•  Are you having a destination wedding at some fabulous getaway or place your guests will need to travel to? Create a design based around the idea of faux boarding passes and customize it with colors or images of where they’ll be going!

•  Looking for something truly unforgettable? Imagine rolling up your paper invites and putting them inside a beautiful glass bottle. This would be great for a beach wedding. If you wanted to really go all out, you could even have your initials engraved on the bottle!

•  Here’s a fun idea: have your wedding details printed on a balloon that your guests must blow up in order to read.

•  Want to really get your guests excited about your upcoming day? Get creative and record a wedding invitation DVD that you can tuck inside of your paper invite. Imagine how fun it will be for them to see you and your loved one inviting them on screen to your big day.

If you’re looking for classy, customized wedding invitations (or any paper goods really) that are truly one of a kind, contact us at BG Design Studio and tell us what you’re dreaming of! We’ll help to make your wedding invites just right for you.

Save The Date Invites

Photo courtesy of Lisa Farrer Weddings.

Wedding bells are in the air, and our clients Alicia and Taylor are engaged! Take a look at these gorgeous engagement photos and tell me this is not one of the sweetest couples you have ever seen!! We are so excited that they chose us to create their Save the Date invitations and we had a blast making them.

Alicia found us last year on Etsy and we became immediate friends.  She was beyond willing to support us BG Girls because we are a California women owned business!  We girls have to stick together… especially when it comes to making dream weddings come true!

We started working on save the dates and since we were long distance, we did all of the work over the internet and phone. It wasn’t until this January when her and her mom, Maureen, decided to visit us and we finally got to meet the bride-to-be.  It was a meeting filled with laughter -- and of course, fashion tips. We had a fabulous time and are so excited for their special day!
